Halloween fun: Take a haunted night tour through the past of Hingham - with a theatrical twist
HINGHAM — A lantern-lit, history-filled walk in Hingham that includes a turn through a cemetery may be just the spooky night your family is looking for.
The Hingham Historical Society is offering "A Spooky Walk Through History" through Oct. 30 with performers from The Company Theatre in Norwell as storytelling tour guides.
The 70-minute walk begins at the Hingham Heritage Museum and meanders to downtown historical sites.
Hingham Historical Society Executive Director Deirdre Anderson said the event is appropriate for the whole family, from local history for the adults to the theatrical performances for the kids.
"Its a great seasonal event, but also a wonderful way to learn about Hingham's past while enjoying a fun Halloween activity with the family," Anderson said.
"A Spooky Walk Through History" raises money for The Company Theatre and the Hingham Historical Society. Everyone involved is volunteering their time.
The true-tale walks run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through the end of the month. Tours start every 15 minutes from 7 to 8 p.m. and have been sold out on previous weekends.
"The first two weekends were amazing. The Company Theatre actresses and actors have been great and this all has been really special,'' Anderson said.
Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at Hinghamhistorical.org.
